Ashe Converting Equipment

Ashe converting equipment has 25 years experience in winding materials in reel form. The Opal series of Turret Rewinders are designed in a way that even the hardest of “in-line” application finishing is achievable. The range enables the simplest of self adhesive label products, to unsupported materials to be run successfully at a constant output.

Opal Label Inspection Slitter Rewinder

The Opal Label Inspection Slitter Rewinder is available in 3 web widths of  330mm, 410mm and 510mm, which all relate to press sizes on the market today. The standard format of the machine includes 76mm unwind air shaft, web clamps, splicing table, edge guider, shear slitting station, 76mm rewind shaft and the most accurate tension control system developed by ASHE.

The machine also incorporates 2 digital AC drives and an advanced PLC with operator interface by screen.

There is an extensive list of optional equipment, all and any of which can be added to our standard machine.

  • Missing label detection systems for all types of labels
  • Facilities for inspection, i.e., stroboscope, web video systems.
  • Male knife bar lift off facility, or lift out cartridge system for ease of offline knife setting.
  • Web advance system for ease of aligning the web with new cores.
  • Flag and splice detection.
  • Duplex rewind (two rewind shafts).
  • Range of different core/shaft sizes.

Opal Inline/Offline Turrets

Available inline with a press or a separate offline unit the Opal turret meets the demands of high production outputs with consistent quality.

The Opal turret range is available in 3 web widths, 330mm, 410mm and 510mm. The design of the machine incorporates a fully automatic 4 spindle turret with a range of different shaft sizes. This can also be adapted to 2 spindle mode for running larger diameters. The machine can be set to run a given length or number of labels and will then cut and transfer the web without stopping the machine. The finished rolls are ejected from the machine automatically leaving the operator only to load cores. This is a continuous cycle all the way through the parent roll giving non-stop production.

Transferring onto new cores can be completed by core glueing or our patented glueless cinch which ensures the use of no glue on the product.

Using our experience from the wider web machines, our knowledge in tension control has been transferred to the Opal series of machines. The machine is controlled by a PLC and interface making the operation of the machine simple.

Some of the optional equipment that can be added to the machine include:

  • Missing label detection for all types of label.
  • Male lift off slitting station or cartridge system for offline setting.
  • Tail closure by label applicator or glue.
  • Transfer to new cores by glue or glueless cinch, or coreless operation.
  • Turner bar for labels inside winding.
