D-Pod Digital Plates

By eliminating film and all the chemicals, the D-POD now enables you to have a truly digital workflow.

Utilizing high resolution ink jet technology, the D-POD applies a specially formulated (water based) imaged mask directly on to the surface of all TORAY plates replacing the need for film.

Handling of the TORAY plates once the mask has been printed is flexible and durable prior to exposure, and the mask simply washes away during the washout process.

The D-POD imager is an additive process. In this process, the imaged mask is applied to the non image area, unlike the subtractive process whereby the plates are pre-covered with a carbon mask, which is etched away by a high energy consuming power laser.

The mask can be printed at high resolution (up to 2880 dpi or 175 lpi) and can print up to 6 full size plates per hour depending on resolution.
